Gentle classes for over 50's and Specialist classes

Tony Dove has worked extensively with older clients since 2000 when he was head hunted to create a series of community classes as a falls prevention initiative. He has worked full time teaching both in London and the South West. His classes cover a wide range of abilities and needs. He has been employed by five Primary Care Trusts. Current regular classes include for the Parkinson's society, a special school and nursing/residential homes (including dementia units).

Classes are a mix of seated and standing exercise. Some classes are mostly seated others have a mixture of seated and standing exercise. There are no set forms to learn, just individual exercises. The emphasis is on health, mobility, pain relief and balance. The syllabus is tailored to the group's needs drawing on Tony's Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Dao Yin and therapeutic knowledge.

Tony's previous work experience ranges from large residential hospitals, special needs schools and Mencap homes to managing projects for young people excluded from mainstream education. He has a broad experience of the differences in individual need and ways to overcome individual difficulties. This includes physical, emotional, educational, sensory and communication issues.

Regular clients who find a benefit from the classes include people with arthritis, rheumatism, spine issues, pain, circulation issues, replaced joints, balance issues, MS, fibromyalgia, breathing issues, emotional problems, dementia, ME and restricted movement.

Clients can work at their own pace and ability. The atmosphere is fun and friendly with plenty of time for talk and laughter.


     Students have reported improved flexibility, balance, stamina, and a feeling of general well-being.
     Many people say they feel more relaxed physically, and emotionally.  Several people have noticed a reduction in pain, restless legs and night cramps.


Attending Classes
    There is no need to pre-book. Courses can be paid monthly, or as you go.
